The First Responders Project.
St John Ambulance partnered with Johanniter International Assistance, Rural Agency for Community Development and Assistance (RACIDA) and Merti Integrated Development Programme (MID-P) to improve most needed first response to emergencies and disasters in Botswana.
The First Responders Project focus to Increasing the number of lives saved during and after small and medium scaled disasters in Botswana by 2030.
The first responder project aims to improve the capacity of St John Ambulance Botswana and consortium partners to increase their technical capacity, in-country fundraising capacity for timely intervention, increase in public recognition, accountability and sharing of best practices.
In order to strengthen the capacity of St John Ambulance and other partners for effective first response, this project will work to:
-Increase their technical capacity;
-Improve their in-country fundraising capacity for timely intervention;
-Increase their public recognition and accountability;
-Share and develop the “Knowledge Products” of first responders, i.e. share and document best practices to better learn from successes and failures.
The project will coordinate their activities with other actors such as the police, the County Steering Committees, the Northern Frontier Alliance in ASAL, etc. to avoid duplication, exploit synergies and ensure the transmission of relevant information.
